24-7 tutorials online for students
– a first for Ireland
The recently launched http://www.24-7tutorials.com website uses innovative e-Learning technology to provide a unique model of one-to-one online expert help in real time. Online tutors are available to help second and third level students with homework, exam technique, thesis and research queries. There is no need to book and no travel required.
The tutorials take place in secure online meeting rooms where students can talk directly with the tutor, share notes or use chat messaging. There is no video, to protect the privacy of both students and tutors. Tutors can also use note board and desktop sharing. These tools enable tutors and students to collaborate together securely in a fully encrypted environment.
Students need only pay for help if and when they need it and pay as little as €15 to get their problem solved immediately. Most homework queries can be answered in a few minutes and the old system of booking grinds for an hour only serves to confuse the student with additional non-relevant material.
Tutorials started recently and there are already more than 500 regular visitors to the website. Some of Ireland’s best teachers, professors and experienced business professionals have signed up as tutors. Their expertise covers a wide range of subject areas from Leaving Certificate Ordinary level Maths to MBA qualified Maths tutors at third level. All major subjects are covered in addition to Career Guidance, English as a Foreign Language and Special Educational Needs. The panel of tutors also includes native French, German and Spanish tutors who are available to help with oral exams preparation. Tutors can logon from the comfort of home if and when they are available.
