skoool.ie would not be possible without the invaluable assistance and generosity of our supporters. Here, we are pleased to present some information about our Founders, and their commitment to and belief in skoool.ie as a valuable educational proposition.

skoool.ie is the latest in a series of worldwide initiatives by Intel in the educational sector. The Intel^® Innovation In Education initiative is a global, multi-million dollar programme focusing on preparing today's students for tomorrow's challenges. In 2000, Intel Corporation contributed more than $107 million worldwide to primary, secondary and third level education programmes.

Education is a major focus area for Intel Ireland.  Building on Intel’s mission of being a major force in improving science, maths and technology education, Intel Ireland have implemented a number of programs at both a local and national level.  These include:

• Local Schools Program: Intel Ireland takes a great interest in schools at a local level.
• Young Scientist Exhibition: Intel Ireland sponsors a major award in the annual ESAT BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition. The Intel prize is awarded to a project in the Physics, Chemistry and Maths section of the competition. Part of the Intel prize is a trip to the annual Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, which takes place in the USA in May each year. The ESAT BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition takes place in January of each year.

Intel^® Performance Learning Solutions

Intel^®Performance Learning Solutions (PLS) is an innovative e-Learning solutions division within Intel that focuses on providing leading edge e-Learning and knowledge transfer products and services. PLS was responsible for the development of the award-winning ScoilNet education website, and has used its expertise in this area to develop the skoool.ie service. PLS also designs, develops and implements leading e-Learning products for internal customer groups.
